Punjab Medical Faculty was established under Medical & Dental Degree Ordinance 1916, Union Government of  India and named as Punjab State Medical Faculty.

• PMF came into existence as West Pakistan State Medical Faculty in 1957.
• PMF is constituted as Punjab Medical Faculty in 1982 by the Governor Punjab in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Medical and Dental Degrees Ordinance 1982 (ordinance xxvi of 1982).
